Introducing The Nomos Lambda 39mm - Smaller But Still Precious (With Pricing)

Nomos' top of the line timepiece is now available in a smaller, 39mm size, while preserving all its other qualities, including the rose gold case and decorated in-house movement.

Having made its debut in 2013, the Lambda raised the ambitions and positioning of Nomos, a brand best known for its affordable, honest watches backed by quirky, appealing marketing. The Lambda is available only in 18k gold, while being equipped a highly finished in-house calibre. Originally offered only with a 42mm case, the Lambda is now available with a smaller, 39mm case, along with a new black dial.

The Lambda 39 is available only in rose gold, with the 39mm case measuring 9.11mm high. Inside each Lambda is the DUW 1001 movement, an in-house, hand-wound calibre with an 84 hour power reserve.

Like the other DUW movements - an appellation given to its in-house movements, DUW stands for "NOMOS Glashütte Deutsche Uhrenwerke" - the DUW 1001 in the Lambda is elaborately decorated in a style typical of modern Glashütte watchmaking, meaning blued steel screws, jewels in chatons and a balance cock that's hand-engraved.

The Lambda 39 is available with a silver dial fitted with either gold-plated or blued steel hands, as well as a new "black velvet" dial that's available only on the Lambda 39.

The Nomos Lambda 39 retails for €11,800 or US$17,000. It's available online from the Nomos Store.
